Demonstration against law limiting the independence of anti-corruption agencies

A new protest movement has begun in Kyiv, Lviv, Odesa, and Dnipro against a new law passed on July 22 that would place the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office under the control of the General Prosecutor and, therefore, the President's Office. Civil society activists claim this takes away their independence and impartiality. However, the government claims they have been inefficient and open to Russian infiltration.
