Russian attack sets fire to Pryluky tobacco factory operated by BAT

The roof of the cigarette production workshop caught fire, according to workers at the plant. All employees were in shelters at the time, and no one was physically injured.

One woman experienced an acute stress reaction and was given assistance.

The Pryluky tobacco factory produces seven cigarette brands and three brands of heated tobacco products. According to the company’s website, the factory employs about 500 workers.

Most of them work in the tobacco, filter and cigarette workshops, where the main production stages take place, from the initial processing of tobacco and production of filter rods to the manufacture and packaging of cigarettes.

Earlier reports said that during the one-week period from Aug. 31 to Sept. 6, Russian attacks also damaged or struck a wide range of Ukrainian civilian business and logistics sites, including:

• an Auchan warehouse;
• a Nova Poshta terminal in Odesa Oblast;
• a warehouse fire in Pohreby near Kyiv after a Russian strike;
• a Varus warehouse in Kyiv Oblast, with the company warning of delivery delays and temporary shortages of some goods;
• a Dnipro-M distribution center in Kyiv;
• the Aurora retail chain’s distribution center in Kyiv Oblast;
• a Ukrainian Railways railway depot hit by ballistic missiles;
• a factory in Irpin that had been restored after Russia’s 2022 attacks and has now again halted production;
• warehouses in Bucha and Boryspil districts of Kyiv Oblast;
• a Coca-Cola plant in Kyiv Oblast;
• the Biokon pharmaceutical warehouse, the largest in Ukraine;
• a Teva pharmaceutical warehouse, hit twice in one day;
• extraction facilities belonging to Ukrnafta, struck in a mass Russian attack.
