‘Grain corridor’ to be used only for Ukrainian agricultural exports, official says

“The issue of export of metals or other types of cargoes within the framework of the ‘grain initiative’ is currently not being discussed,” he said.

“The United Nations was the author of the ‘grain initiative,’ and the export of agricultural products was discussed within the framework of food security.”

“We’re certainly interested in resuming full operation of our sea ports, and we’ll initiate this at the first opportunity,” Vaskov added.

Andriy Zablovskyi, the head of the secretariat of the Council of Entrepreneurs under Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers, has recently said the precedent that was set by the unblocking of Ukrainian sea ports to allow grain exports was also a good reason to continue working on the export of metal products from Ukrainian sea ports.

Ukraine’s Deputy Economy Minister Taras Kachka has expressed the hope that the “grain initiative” can become a model for other products.
