Sybiha rebukes Hungary for silence after Russian strike halts Druzhba oil transit

On his page on X, he published a photo of a fire at pipeline infrastructure following the latest Russian strike on Jan. 27.

“By the way, Hungary has not expressed a single protest to Russia over this. They could not even bring themselves to say the word ‘Russia.’ Double standards at their finest,” Sybiha wrote.

Ukraine’s top diplomat said Hungary is preparing to complain about problems with the transit of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline.

“We can only advise them to turn to their friends in Moscow with these photographs,” he noted.

Sybiha stressed that Moscow ceased to be a reliable oil supplier once it launched its aggression against Ukraine.

“Unfortunately, years of this reality were not enough for Orbán’s government to understand this and diversify supplies. We suggest they open their eyes,” the minister added.

On Jan. 27, the Lviv Oblast Military Administration said Russian forces attacked an infrastructure facility in Brody with a drone. There were no fatalities or injuries.

Naftogaz reported that the Russian army struck a critical infrastructure facility in western Ukraine. A fire broke out, and technological processes at the facility were halted.

According to the publication enkorr, the facility in Brody is linked to the Druzhba oil pipeline. The pipeline remains operational and is used to transport Russian oil to Hungary and Slovakia.

The city of Brody is the junction of the Druzhba and Odesa-Brody pipelines. The Odesa-Brody pipeline is 674 km long and has a designed capacity of 14.5 million tons of oil per year.
