Trump received more than $500 million from World Liberty
Financial, a crypto project co-founded by Trump and his sons, according to a
financial disclosure he filed with the U.S. Office of Government Ethics.
Another $635 million came from sales of the $TRUMP meme coin.
Trump also reported more than $80 million in income from
deals with several media companies, along with millions of dollars from his
company that licenses his name to foreign developers.
The figures show the scale of Trump’s profits from his
family’s cryptocurrency business. Reuters previously estimated that his family
had received at least $2.3 billion from investors since he returned to the
presidency.
On Jan. 18, 2025, Trump announced the launch of his own
cryptocurrency — the $TRUMP meme coin. In its first hour of trading, $TRUMP’s
market capitalization reached $3 billion and topped $4 billion within 90
minutes.
As of Jan. 19, 2025, Trump’s cryptocurrency had reached a
market capitalization of $68 billion.
U.S. first lady Melania Trump launched her own meme coin,
briefly driving down the $TRUMP token.
On March 3, 2025, Trump issued an executive order on digital
assets, ordering officials to study the creation of a U.S. Crypto Strategic
Reserve. Along with bitcoin, the reserve would include cryptocurrencies such as
ether, XRP, Solana and Cardano. Bitcoin and ether would be the “heart of the
reserve.” “I will make sure the U.S. is the Crypto Capital of the World,” Trump
wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.
In the first half of 2025 alone, Trump’s family earned more
than $800 million from sales of cryptocurrency assets, excluding potentially
billions of dollars in unrealized “paper” gains.
