Defense Forces hit Su-24 bomber and drone hub in Crimea and Donetsk drone depot — General Staff

Between Sept. 15 and overnight into Sept. 16, Ukrainian defense forces conducted precision strikes against high-priority Russian military assets - a Russian Su-24 tactical bomber was targeted at the Saky airbase in temporarily occupied Crimea. The full extent of the damage is being verified.

Near occupied Donetsk, Ukrainian forces struck a Russian storage, preparation, and launch facility for attack drones. Precision strikes took out Russian drone control posts located in Staromlynivka and Pokrovsk in Donetsk Oblast, as well as in Pokrovske in Zaporizhzhya Oblast.

Ukrainian strikes also hit Russian military logistics and reconnaissance nodes across the front:

Dovzhansk, Luhansk Oblast: An ammunition depot used by occupying troops came under attack.

Rovenky, Luhansk Oblast & Berdyansk, Zaporizhzhya Oblast: Fuel and lubricant storage facilities servicing Russian field formations were attacked.

Suvorove & Rysove, occupied Crimea: Observation posts housing Russian Grenader technical intelligence radar systems were targeted.

Su-24M is a supersonic, all-weather variable-sweep wing frontline bomber and modernized variant of the baseline Su-24, designed to execute precision missile and bombing strikes against hardened ground and surface maritime targets.

Earlier strikes on Saky Airfield

Aug. 22, 2026: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukrainian defense forces destroyed a Russian Su-24M frontline bomber and four units of airfield support equipment at Saky airbase.

Aug. 13, 2026: General Staff reported that strikes on Aug. 12 hit Russian military facilities in Crimea, directly damaging the air traffic control tower at Saky airbase.

July 16, 2026: National Guard of Ukraine Commander Oleksandr Pivnenko disclosed that combat divers from the Omega Special Purpose Center destroyed an Su-24M bomber directly on the tarmac at Saky airbase.
