Ukraine downs more than 80% of Russian Banderol munitions targeting Kyiv

Kovalenko published an infographic showing the frequency and duration of air-raid alerts in Kyiv over the past week, beginning Aug. 27.

The figures indicate that the total duration of alerts has gradually declined.

From the morning of Aug. 27 through the morning of Aug. 28, Kyiv recorded 14 air-raid alerts lasting a combined 13 hours and 3 minutes. Between Sept. 1 and Sept. 2, the capital recorded 10 alerts totaling 5 hours and 21 minutes.

“The interception rate for Banderols is over 80% and will keep rising,” Kovalenko wrote on Telegram. “This is one of those cases where the Russians are trying very hard, but screwing it up.”

Russian forces have significantly intensified attacks on Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast since late August, triggering dozens of air-raid alerts a day because of threats from jet-powered drones.

The Kyiv City State Administration has developed several options for organizing school classes from Sept. 1 amid prolonged alerts.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko has also said the city could ease restrictions on metro operations during air-raid alerts, including passenger service across the Southern Bridge.

Kyiv authorities have additionally proposed easing some curfew restrictions.

Five air-raid alerts had already been declared in the capital since the start of Sept. 2.
