“The funds raised will be directed towards economic recovery and strengthening social security for the population,” the message quotes Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko.
“I am grateful for the continuous support of Ukraine by the Japanese Government during their presidency in the G7, as well as the World Bank team.”
The ministry also noted that since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Kyiv has received over $581 million in financing from the Japanese Government through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The message adds that Kyiv expects to receive another $2 billion from the Japanese Government for direct budget support through the World Bank's ADVANCE fund.
On June 22, the World Bank announced additional financial support of $1.76 billion to Ukraine. The funds will be allocated to state salaries and pension payments, as well as support for vulnerable population groups.
