Ukraine’s General Staff confirms strike on Saratov oil refinery in Russia

According to Ukraine's General Staff, fires were reported at the refinery following the strike.

The extent of the damage is being assessed.

The Saratov oil refinery supplies fuel and lubricants to the Russian Armed Forces. It produces gasoline, diesel fuel and other petroleum products and has a refining capacity of about 7 million metric tons of oil per year.

On the night of Sept. 11, Telegram channels reported a drone attack on Saratov, Russia, as well as a fire at the local oil refinery.

Russian online marketplace Ozon later confirmed that its logistics hub had been hit. Ukraine began striking Ozon warehouses in August, following earlier attacks on facilities belonging to another major Russian online marketplace, Wildberries.

Ukrainian defense technology company Fire Point confirmed the strike on the Ozon logistics center in Saratov, Russia. The company said the warehouse complex was attacked with FP-1 drones.

On the night of Sept. 8, residents of Saratov also reported explosions and a fire, while local authorities warned of a drone threat. According to OSINT analysts, the Saratov oil refinery was the target of the attack.
