Acer continues shipping hardware to Russia despite its claims to the contrary, Reuters

Despite claiming to be withdrawing from Russia, Taiwanese hardware and electronics corporation Acer delivered $70.4 million worthhardware to the sanctioned state from March 8, 2022 until March 31, 2023, , Reuters reported on June 9, referring to customs data.
Acer Sales International SA is an intermediary company which supplies Acer computer equipment to Russia. It belongs to Acer and is registered in Switzerland. The delivery chain included a range of custom delivery services.
In this way, hardware was supplied outside Taiwan and didn't breach the country’s sanctions against Russia.
Acer said it strictly adheres to all imposed international exports sanctions against Russia, adding that the subsidiary "had not shipped any laptops or desktops to Russia since April 8 last year", but supplied a "limited number of displays and accessories to the Russian market for civilian daily use while ensuring compliance with international sanctions".
An anonymous source told Reuters that Acer shipment included PC monitors and laptops even after April 2022.
Swiss sanctions allowed the export of laptops and their components to Russia until Dec. 16, 2022. Acer stopped exports from Switzerland to Russia after the date.
Russia could have purchased Acer hardware from third countries, the company said.
Acer's Russian division said nothing has changed since April 2022, answering a media query.
Acer officially suspended operations in Russia on March 8, 2022 "due to the latest events."
Russia announced on June 2, 2023 that it is prepared to ban hardware imports to the country, including such brands as Acer, IBM, and Dell.
