For almost a week straight, Russian forces have been attacking civilian facilities belonging to Ukrnafta — production units and gas stations that provide fuel to the population in frontline oblasts, the company wrote on July 5.
Unfortunately, the company noted, this has not been without casualties.
Thus, on July 5, two Russian jet-powered UAVs hit a production facility at a field in Sumy Oblast, causing a fire. No one was injured as a result of this strike, but the equipment suffered significant damage.
On July 3, an enemy Shahed-type UAV struck the entrance of a gas station in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Personnel and customers were uninjured; a power line was damaged.
On July 2, Russians struck a gas station in Mykolaiv Oblast with Shahed-type jet UAV. The enemy drone hit the canopy over a fuel dispenser. As a result of the strike, one person was killed, and two others, including a gas station operator assistant, were wounded; they are now in the hospital receiving all necessary assistance. Furthermore, equipment was significantly damaged, vehicles burned, and a building was destroyed.
On the night of July 2, Russians attacked a gas station in Kharkiv Oblast with three Shahed-type drones. People were uninjured, but the gas station building and above-ground equipment were completely destroyed.
"Russia is once again demonstrating that its targets are civilian infrastructure, including that which sustains the lives of frontline communities," noted Bohdan Kukura, Chair of the Ukrnafta Board.
"We are restoring damaged facilities wherever possible to provide fuel to people where it is needed most, including in frontline territories. This is an important contribution by UKRNAFTA to the energy resilience and security of our country," he added.
The company also noted that even before these attacks, since the beginning of 2026, UKRNAFTA had already been forced to shut down six gas stations due to Russian shelling, hostilities, and a significant deterioration in the security situation.
The Cabinet of Ministers, together with regional military administrations and market participants, is developing mechanisms for providing fuel in the regions amidst Russia's damage and destruction of gas stations and oil depots.
In late June, WOG CEO and former Minister of Infrastructure Andrii Pyvovarskyy noted that over 150 gas stations have burned down in Ukraine over the past two months. He added that oil depots and other fuel infrastructure facilities are attacked almost every week.
For his part, Volodymyr Omelchenko, Director of Energy and Infrastructure Programs at the Razumkov Centre, wrote on Facebook that the problem of shelling gas stations and oil depots has already reached the level of national security.
JSC Ukrnafta is Ukraine's largest oil-producing company, carrying out a full cycle of operations in the production sphere: exploration, oil and gas extraction, provision of oilfield services, and management of Ukraine's largest network of gas stations under the UKRNAFTA brand. The company operates over 1,106 oil and 131 gas wells. The shareholders of JSC Ukrnafta are NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine and Defense Ministry. Since 2022, the company has been under state management and is implementing a large-scale business transformation.
UKRNAFTA gas station network is the largest network of auto filling complexes in Ukraine, numbering nearly 700 stations and ranking in the top 3 by fuel sales volume. Networks that earlier operated under the Glusco, Shell, and U.Go brands have been consolidated under the UKRNAFTA brand.
