Parrots settle at Ukraine embassy in Australia

Several white cockatoos were spotted perched on the roof of Ukraine’s embassy in Australia, appearing to stand in formation and observe their surroundings, Ambassador Vasyl Myroshnychenko said on Facebook on Apr. 29.
“Our embassy in Canberra is expanding. We have added a new group of cockatoos to the team — very loud, well-connected and never shy about speaking out. Natural-born diplomats,” the official said in a post.
The post received more than 1,100 likes and dozens of comments, with users responding in both Ukrainian and English.
“We should add kookaburras to the team so they can do live reports from fires at Russian oil refineries,” user Alex Braslavskiy wrote.
Another user, Yaroslav Melnyk, joked that “the parrots already speak Ukrainian.”
“Careful, they will soon start holding press briefings. And if you let them, they might become a bit cocky,” wrote Nadia Fedorenko, using a pun on “cocky” and “cockatoos.”
“This looks like guys from Zakarpattia working abroad,” serviceman Oleksii Lubetskyi commented.
Nick Dmyterko added: “You must have trained them well. All I can say about ours is that they are worse than Putin and far more brazen.”
“Everyone is with Ukraine, it’s a matter of instinct,” another user, identified as Lärm Fetischist from Germany, wrote.
