Two prominent Ukrainian athletes to carry Ukraine's flag at 2024 Olympic Opening Ceremony
The 2024 Olympic Games opening ceremony will take place in Paris on July 26.
Tennis star Elina Svitolina, who won a bronze medal at the previous Games in Tokyo, will be one of Ukraine's flag bearers at the ceremony.
Svitolina will be joined by swimmer Mykhailo Romanchuk, a silver and bronze medalist at the 2020 Olympics, the Ukrainian National Olympic Committee press service reported.
Following tradition, participating countries will have two flag bearers — one woman and one man.
This tradition aligns with the International Olympic Committee's commitment to gender equality.
Organizers highlight that the 2024 Olympics will be the first in history to achieve gender balance, with 50% of participants being women and 50% men.
The opening ceremony of the Olympic Games will begin on July 26 at 8:30 p.m. EET.
