Twenty vehicles donated to Ukraine through London's ultra-low emission zone scrappage scheme arrived over the weekend, The Guardian reported on May 21.
More than 100 vehicles have been donated since the ULEZ program launched, with about half delivered so far, the newspaper said.
ULEZ is a designated area in London, established in 2020, aimed at reducing harmful emissions. Drivers of vehicles that do not meet minimum emissions standards must pay a daily fee of £12.50 to enter the zone.
The ULEZ program allows London residents, small business owners, private entrepreneurs, and charitable organizations to scrap vehicles that do not meet environmental standards and receive grants in return.
For a scrapped vehicle to be sent to Ukraine through the program, it must serve a function such as assisting with medical aid or evacuating people from dangerous areas, The Guardian said.
