Peace in Ukraine to improve regional situation and EU attitude to Georgia, Georgian PM says

Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze expressed hope that the war in Ukraine will end "within a year at most", resulting in Georgia’s relationship with the European Union further improvement, Newsgeorgia media outlet reported on July 19.
Kobakhidze shared his thoughts following the European Political Community summit in the UK.
"My overall impression is that once the situation in the region changes globally and calms down, attitudes towards Georgia will significantly improve,” he said.
“This process will begin even earlier, but it mostly depends on when the political situation in the region stabilizes."
Peace in Ukraine is the main condition for regional stabilization.
"We hope that within a year at most, the war in Ukraine will end, the regional situation will calm down, and this will positively impact the overall political situation in our region and attitudes towards Georgia," Kobakhidze concluded.
Kobakhidze once again echoed on May 30 Russian propaganda by drawing a "parallel" between the Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine and protests in Georgia, labeling Ukraine as a "collapsed country."
The "Russian" law on "foreign agents" was meant to protect Georgia from "Ukrainization," the pro-Kremlin prime minister claimed on April 17, suggesting that such "Ukrainization" could hinder the country’s EU membership aspirations.
The real threat to Georgia is Russification, not "mystical Ukrainization," Ukrainian Foreign Ministry pushed back, adding that using Ukraine in such a disparaging context "causes additional harm to Ukrainian-Georgian relations."
