Radiation situation in Ukraine after fire at Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Plant remains stable - State Emergency Service
The radiation situation in Ukraine remains stable as of midnight on August 12, no exceedances of permissible levels have been recorded, the State Emergency Service (SES) reported on Telegram.
"At 12:00 a.m. on August 12, no changes were detected in the radiation situation around Zaporizhzhya NPP," the SES wrote.
"No signs of man-made radionuclides, possibly indicating a violation of nuclear power plants safe functioning in Ukraine or cross-border transfer were detected."
Ukrhydrometeorological center's posts located nearby continue monitoring the radiation background and promptly provide data on its condition, the SES added.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) experts witnessed the appearance of thick, dark smoke in the northern part of the ZNPP after a series of "multiple explosions", the IAEA reported.
