NASA satellite shows multiple fires at Russian airbase following drone attack

NASA satellite images captured several fires at the Marinovka airfield in Volgograd Oblast overnight, Radio Liberty’s Krym.Realii project reported on Telegram on Aug. 22.
Satellite images of the airbase taken on August 19 show nearly thirty military aircraft and eight trucks stationed there.
Su-24MR reconnaissance planes of the 2nd separate reconnaissance aviation squadron (military unit 77978) of the 4th Air Force and Air Defense Command are stationed at the airfield, the Russian Telegram channel ASTRA wrote.
OSINT analysts suggested that Su-34 fighters could also be based at the airfield.
Explosions rang out in Kalach-on-the-Don, Volgograd Oblast overnight on Aug. 22 as the Marinovka military airfield was targeted by drones. Volgograd Governor Andriy Bocharov later wrote that the attack had allegedly been repulsed.
According to him, a fire broke out on the Defense Ministry facility’s territory.
One of the drones was shot down "several kilometers from the airfield," and the debris of the other "fell on a house nearby, which caused a fire”, Russian media claimed.
