Kyiv takes measures to prevent heating system from freezing

The Kyiv Defense Council has directed housing and utility companies, management firms, condominiums, and housing cooperatives to prevent heating systems from freezing during emergencies due to an expected temperature drop and potential Russian massive shelling threat, the Kyiv City State Administration reported on Jan. 5.
"The personnel will be allowed to move around the city during a curfew with a passport and a service ID,” the city administration said.
“These service organizations must also urgently conduct an unscheduled inspection of the attics and technical floors of residential buildings where heating networks are located."
The council has also ordered that any identified deficiencies be immediately addressed, such as restoring damaged insulation, closing windows in common areas and technical rooms, and eliminating drafts.
Ukraine is bracing for a significant cold snap, starting in the northern and northwestern oblasts.
