Italy’s government is preparing its 13th military aid
package for Ukraine, which will include interceptor missiles for the
Franco–Italian SAMP/T
air defense system, La Repubblica reported on Aug. 26.
According to sources cited by the newspaper, the decision was made in secret. The government officially announced only that it would provide civilian power generators to support Ukraine’s population.
To meet Kyiv’s needs ahead of winter, Italy will transfer some of its Aster 30 missiles from its own stockpiles by October.
Italy and France also plan to provide Ukraine with a license for the localized production of Aster 30 B1NT missiles, a newer version of the interceptor.
According to publicly available information, Ukraine will
receive one SAMP/T system and new air defense radars from France this fall. The
countries also already have a contract to produce additional Aster 30 missiles.
They plan to sign the corresponding agreements in September.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
