Russian military strikes Kharkiv four times with missiles

Explosions boomed across Kharkiv on Sept. 16, with Oleh Synehubov, the head of Kharkiv Oblast Military Administration, reporting that Russian forces had struck the city with at least four missiles.
Minutes earlier, air raid sirens around the country had sounded, with Ukraine’s air force warning that there was the thread of Russian ballistic missile launches against Ukraine. There were alerts in most northern, central, eastern and southern oblasts.
Synehubov said that emergency services in Kharkiv had rushed to the impact sites. The city’s mayor, Ihor Terekhov, also confirmed the explosions and urged residents to seek shelter.
This marks the first attack on Kharkiv since Aug. 6, when the occupiers targeted the city with S-300 missiles. These missiles are normally used against airborne targets, but can be figured to operate ground-attack, ballistic mode. Used in this way, however, they are much less accurate.
Since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russian forces have subjected parts of Kharkiv Oblast to nearly daily artillery bombardments.
In the worst of these, Russian troops shelled the settlement of Nova Hnylytsia in the Chuhuiv District, employing cluster munitions, on Sept. 6.
A day later, Russian forces fired upon populated areas in Kharkiv Oblast from combat helicopters, resulting in the injury of a local resident and damage to several buildings.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
