New NATO members Finland and Sweden launch joint Nordic Response 24 excercises with Norway

Major NATO military exercises named Nordic Response 24 are set to begin in the northern regions of Finland, Sweden, and Norway on March 4, Finnish media outlet Yle reported on March 3.
This marks the first time Finland is participating in the NATO joint defense exercises as a member of the alliance.
Nordic Response consists of extensive military drills on land, at sea, and in the air, involving around 20,000 troops from 14 countries. Finland will be represented by approximately 4,100 service members.
The largest NATO exercises in decades, Steadfast Defender, began on Jan. 24 and will continue until the end of spring 2024.
The exercises are based on a scenario where a Russian attack on Alliance territory triggers the activation of NATO's Article 5, reported Bild. Article 5 obliges members to provide assistance to any state that has been attacked, stating that an armed attack on one or more allies is an attack on all.
Russia might attempt to attack Europe towards the end of 2024 or early 2025, a period when the United States could be "without a leader" and might face delays in providing aid to European nations, Bild reported earlier.
NATO is convinced that aggressor nation Russia will launch an attack on an Alliance country, the Financial Times reported. Diplomats believe there is no luxury in assuming that Russia will stop at Ukraine.
