Stoltenberg slams China for ignoring Peace Summit in Switzerland

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg expressed disappointment over China's decision to abstain from attending the peace summit on Ukraine in Switzerland, calling it "regrettable" in an interview with NDR published on June 4.
China's withdrawal from the summit highlights its stance on Russia's war against Ukraine, he said.
He criticized China for supporting Russia's military economy, highlighting that Beijing "cannot foot in both camps" — referring to China's attempts to normalize relations with NATO's European allies while simultaneously being the "main supporter of Russia’s war against Ukraine, the greatest and most immediate threat to security we face here in Europe."
China’s absence from the Peace Summit in Switzerland
China had decided not to participate in the peace summit in Switzerland, Reuters reported on May 31, citing its sources.
China later confirmed its absence at the meeting due to Russia had not been invited.
China is also attempting to dissuade other countries from participating in the summit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The Global Peace Summit will be attended by leaders from around the world and is scheduled for June 15-16.
107 countries had committed to participating as of June 3, Ukrainian Presidential Office reported.
