NATO to open Ukraine training center in Poland – Stoltenberg
NATO allies and Ukraine plan to establish a joint analytical training center in Poland’s Bydgoszcz, Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced at a Brussels press conference on Feb. 15.
The center will enable Ukraine to share insights from the ongoing conflict with Russia and will include facilities for Ukrainian military personnel to train alongside NATO troops.
"This is yet another step toward preparing Ukraine for full NATO membership," said Stoltenberg.
While he did not provide a timeline for the center's opening, he said that progress is being made toward this goal.
"We are moving closer to this milestone," Stoltenberg said.
According to The Wall Street Journal, some Western officials have proposed that Ukraine could make territorial concessions to end the war with Russia in return for NATO membership.
During a press conference on Dec. 19, 2023, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described NATO membership as the most robust security option for Ukraine but warned that “partial” membership could carry considerable risks.
