Ukraine's new Prosecutor General Kravchenko appoints three deputies
Ukraine’s new Prosecutor General, Ruslan Kravchenko, appointed three deputies on June 25, the Office of the Prosecutor General reported on Facebook.
The Council of Prosecutors of Ukraine has decided to recommend the appointment of Maksym Krym, Mariya Vdovychenko, and Andriy Leshchenko.
Kravchenko approved this decision and signed orders appointing them as his deputies on June 24.
Each of the deputies will be responsible for a specific area of work in the prosecutor's office.
Krym previously served as head of the Kyiv Oblast Prosecutor’s Office, Vdovychenko was acting head of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, and Leshchenko held a leadership role in the OPG’s Department for Countering Crimes Committed in Armed Conflict Conditions.
The deputies began their duties on June 25, the Office of the Prosecutor General added.
On June 21, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree appointing Kravchenko as Prosecutor General.
Kravchenko had led the State Tax Service since Dec. 31, 2024. Before that, he worked in the Crimea Prosecutor’s Office, other Ukrainian regions after its occupation, the Main Military Prosecutor’s Office, and the Office of the Prosecutor General.
From 2021 to 2023, he headed the Bucha District Prosecutor’s Office, investigating Russian war crimes. In 2023, he competed for the leadership of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU). From April 2023 to Dec. 30, 2024, he served as head of the Kyiv Oblast Military Administration.
Kravchenko succeeded Andriy Kostin, who resigned on Oct. 22, 2024, amid investigations into the illegal granting of disability status to prosecutors in Khmelnytskyi Oblast.
