No evidence Putin is ready for negotiations, Secretary Blinken says

There is no evidence that the Kremlin is interested in real negotiations on ending the war Ukraine, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said at a press conference in Uzbekistan, Voice of America reported on March. 1.
“On the contrary, there are clear indications of the opposite,” said Blinken.
“Just listen to what Putin says. He says there is no point in negotiating until Ukraine recognizes the ‘new territorial reality.’ In other words, until Ukraine admits that Russia has seized its territories forever, they won’t talk.”
The secretary stressed that this approach to resolving the issue is unacceptable.
On March 1, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said that Putin wasn’t interested in peace talks, as his goal is to destroy Ukraine’s statehood.
On Oct. 4, 2022, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy approved a National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) decision that outlaws negotiations with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, suggesting peace talks with Moocow could commence only after a new Russian leader emerges.
Zelenskyy later said that Ukraine would be able to find a format for dialogue with Putin if Russian forces withdrew from occupied Ukrainian territories.
