Zelenskyy discusses Odesa Oblast security in meeting with General Staff

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about shell production, the security of Odesa Oblast, and the situation on the front lines during his latest meeting with the General Staff, the President announced on Oct. 31.
“The meeting was important and lengthy,” he wrote on Telegram.
Discussions on the security situation in Odesa Oblast included addressing civilians defense, energy facilities, and port infrastructure, as well as the strengthening of the regional air defense system, and the protection of critical infrastructure facilities in border and front-line regions.
The President also considered security in the Black Sea with the country’s military leadership, in a discussion about the Grain Corridor Initiative — a maritime corridor that ensures the export of Ukrainian grain to developing countries. According to Zelenskyy, this necessitates the reduction in capability of the Russian Navy, where he took input from Naval Commander Vice Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa, military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov, and Ukraine’s SBU security service chief Vasyl Malyuk.
Meanwhile, top general Valeriy Zaluzhnyi reported on the situation at the front in the areas of Kupyansk, Avdiivka, and Kherson. The meeting also discussed increasing domestic production of artillery systems and artillery shells adhering to NATO standards, along with delivery schedules from partners.
