Repeated Russian artillery strikes on Ivanivka, Kherson Oblast, prevented emergency workers from evacuating the body of a man killed on Jan. 10 until the next day, the Prosecutor General's Office reported via Telegram on Jan. 11.
The man was killed in his own home.
Ukrainian prosecutors have opened an investigation into the apparent violation of the laws and customs of war.
Three people were injured in the sustained artillery barrage, according to Kherson regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin. In another Telegram post, he said the Russian military had carried out 108 strikes in the area, firing 482 shells over the past 24 hours.
Russia regularly attacks Kherson and its surrounding areas. A 62-year-old civilian was killed, and another 66-year-old man was hospitalized following the Russian shelling of a market in Kherson City, local officials reported on Jan. 7.
