Poland warns border regions, deploys helicopter during Russian Shahed attack

Poland deployed a military helicopter and issued warnings to
residents of border regions amid a Russian Shahed
drone attack on western Ukraine.
The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces said
designated forces and assets of Poland’s air defense system had been placed on
heightened combat readiness in response to the Russian attack on western
Ukraine.
“A military helicopter is operating in the airspace,
carrying out tasks to monitor the situation and ensure security,” the command
said.
The Operational Command said the measures were preventive
and intended to ensure the security of Polish airspace, particularly in areas
bordering parts of Ukraine targeted by Russian strikes.
Poland’s Government Security Center sent warnings to
residents of the border areas of Podkarpackie and Lublin.
Russian forces had earlier attacked train stations in Kovel
and Lutsk in Volyn Oblast and Fastiv in Kyiv Oblast with Shahed drones.
In Zviahel, Zhytomyr Oblast, a Shahed drone struck a grocery
store, killing two people. Russian forces also struck gas stations in Zhytomyr
Oblast.
