Russia currently unable to launch another offensive aimed at Kharkiv – Ukrainian military

Available Russian troop reserves are not enough for another major offensive aimed at Kharkiv, Ukrainian Armed Forces spokesman Volodymyr Fitio told Ukrainian TV broadcasters on Jan. 30.
Fitio was commenting on international media and analysts warning that Moscow might be gearing for another attempt to seize the Ukrainian city.
"In order to attack Kharkiv again, it is necessary to take a number of actions, which, [on a transparent battlefield,] are practically impossible to carry out unnoticed by us and our intelligence,” said Fitio.
"We monitor the number of Russian troops on the northern border, in the direction of Kupyansk, we see their movements, and therefore there is no threat to Kharkiv from the north."
He added that the Ukrainian forces have built engineering fortifications in around the city and keep the situation under control.
On Jan. 5, UK newspaper The Telegraph wrote that Russia could launch a major ground offensive in Kharkiv Oblast in mid-January. Kharkiv regional governor Oleh Synehubov noted that no substantial concentration of enemy troops was detected in the region.
