Russian guided bomb strike hits school in Sumy Oblast, kills two, including child

Russians struck a school in Mohrytsia, Sumy Oblast with a
guided bomb, killing a 22-year-old man and a 6-year-old girl, Sumy Oblast
Governor Volodymyr Artyukh said on national television on Aug. 8.
“Unfortunately, we have casualties,” he said.
“Just now, after an air raid on Mohrytsya village, guided
bomb was lauched killing two people, including one child.”
Artyukh clarified that the victims were a brother and sister
who were in the school yard during the strike.
Governor noted that Russian troops dropped 56 guided aerial
bombs on Ukrainian settlements in four border districts of Sumy Oblast over the
past day. Two more people were wounded, but Artyukh did not specify where
exactly.
“Sumy Oblast never saw such a number in one day,” he said.
“That is why the decision was made yesterday in advance: to
save lives, five communities and 23 settlements about to be evacuated.
Unfortunately, the family of the people who died today refused to leave
endangered settlement yesterday.”
Earlier, Iryna Vereshchuk, Minister for Reintegration of the
Temporarily Occupied Territories, said that the humanitarian corridor Kolotylivka-Pokrovka was suspended for
at least ten days due to the escalated military situation in Sumy sector.
