For several months, Russian forces in
Crimea have been relocating
their Black Sea Fleet to the port of Novorossiysk, Ukrainian Defense
Intelligence spokesman Andriy Yusov told Ukrainian TV broadcasters on Oct. 17.
“The enemy has been carrying out the relocation of the Black Sea fleet from Crimea to Novorossiysk for several months now,” said Yusov.
“This involves warships, submarines, and even command infrastructure.”
He added that "this is not the panic-fueled flight we had all hoped for," but Moscow’s naval capabilities in the Black Sea are now substantially reduced.
“This is already a sign that the Russian fleet's capability is diminishing,” the official said.
“Conversely, the Ukrainian defense forces have gained extra capabilities and will definitely use them effectively.”
On Oct. 13, sources in Ukraine’s SBU security service told NV that new models of Ukrainian naval drones were used to attack Russian Black Sea Fleet ships Buyan and Pavel Derzhavin.
