Russia mobilizes Ukrainian teenager deported from Mariupol

Bohdan Yermokhin, a 17-year-old Ukrainian,
previously deported from occupied Mariupol,
has been handed a military draft notice in Russia, Yermokhin’s lawyer, Kateryna
Bobrovska, said in an Instagram post on Nov. 6.
“Despite the fact that Bohdan is still 17, he has already received a draft notice to appear at the military registration office in Moscow Oblast on Dec. 19, 2023,” said Bobrovska.
“I have no doubt about what the Russian authorities have planned for Bohdan.”
She added that Bogdan will turn 18 in two weeks, after which it is likely he will be sent to the Russian army.
The attorney recounted that Bohdan's parents passed away when he was 8 years old, and since then he has been raised in a foster family and has a legal guardian in Ukraine.
In May 2022, Bohdan was transferred to Russia from Mariupol, initially to Donetsk, and then to the Polyany children's sanatorium in Moscow Oblast. Subsequently, in July 2022, despite having a legal guardian, he was placed in a family of a Russian veteran of the Chechen Wars.
Bobrovska also highlighted that since July 2022, Bohdan has unsuccessfully attempted to return to Ukraine several times and has already been issued a Russian passport.
