Russian troops are no longer capable of making significant
breakthroughs on the frontlines in Ukraine, NATO Secretary-General Jens
Stoltenberg said on June 27.
“They tried to launch an offensive again this spring and summer, but so far have only made minor gains,” Stoltenberg said in an interview with AFP
“And we have no other indicators or reasons to believe that Russia has the capabilities and forces to make major breakthroughs.”
At the same time, the official added that Russia is likely to continue attempting further offensives and will maintain its ongoing airstrike campaign.
On June 13, U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Charles Brown said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces managed to stabilize the situation after the Russian attempt to advance towards Kharkiv in May.
