Special forces operation cuts vital Russian supply line near occupied Melitopol on Zaporizhzhya front

A controlled explosion damaged 150 meters of railroad track and a locomotive in Melitopol, cutting off the Russian ammunition and fuel supply to the Zaporizhzhya front, the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SOF) reported on Telegram on Oct. 13.
The Ukrainian mayor of Russian-occupied Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, confirmed the explosion.
The SOF partisan unit blew up a train that regularly transports ammunition and fuel from Russian-occupied Crimea to Melitopol and Dniprorudne in the temporarily occupied territories. The group also damaged equipment, looted iron ore, grain and other goods on its return trips, Ukraine’s National Resistance Center (NRC) announced.
The operation was executed at 7:30 EET. The damage to the railway and the train was visually confirmed on the spot, the SOF wrote.
The cities of Melitopol and Tokmak are strategic targets for the Ukrainian Armed Forces as they continue their counteroffensive in southern Ukraine to cut off the so-called land corridor along the Sea of Azov connecting Russia and occupied Crimea.
