Bulgaria becomes seventh EU state to ban cars with Russian license plates

Bulgaria is closing its borders to vehicles with Russian license plates, the country’s Border Police Chief Commissioner Anton Zlatanov said in an interview with the Bulgarian Tribune on Oct. 2.
The ban extends not only to vehicles, but also to goods, he added.
"I am confident that by the end of the day, the ban on the entry of Russian vehicles into … the territory of Bulgaria will come into force. I would like to add that this has already been in effect for several months for cargo vehicles," Zlatanov said.
Zlatanov refused to provide the number of Russian vehicles that enter Bulgaria each month, only saying that it is not a large number.
Norway, Finland, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia had all previously banned cars with Russian license plates from crossing their borders.
