Footage of the moment when a Russian Iskander ballistic missile with a cluster warhead hit Odesa was shared by Ukraine's Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin on Facebook.
Kostin noted that Russia cynically disregards all norms of international humanitarian law.
"Yesterday evening, the enemy sneakily attacked Odesa," he wrote.
"Five people died, more than 30 were injured. Among the injured are two children and a pregnant woman. Five wounded remain in critical condition."
Cluster munitions are an indiscriminate weapon that often leads to large civilian casualties, he said.
Investigators recovered metal fragments and pieces of the missile within a 1.5 km radius of the impact site, he said.
Investigators believe that the Russians deliberately used the cluster warhead to kill as many Ukrainian civilians as possible.
"The investigation continues. We will find and punish those who give criminal orders to attack peaceful Ukrainian cities," he added.
Earlier, Southern Defense Forces spokesperson, Dmytro Pletenchuk, said that Russia attacked Odesa with a shrapnel-loaded Iskander missile.
Russian attack on Odesa on April 29
Initial reports said that 32 people were injured in Russia's April 29 missile attack on Odesa.
"Kivalov's Castle", popularly known as "Harry Potter's Castle", caught fire.
Ex-deputy Party of Regions MP and National University of Odesa Law Academy rector, Serhiy Kivalov, was injured, Suspilne reported.
Five people died as a result of the Russian attack on Odesa as of the morning of April 30.
