Zelenskyy administration quietly changes title of influential advisor

Oleksii Arestovych has served as an advisor to Andriy Yermak, the chief-of-staff of the administration of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, but his official job title has been quietly changed to “advisor to the President’s Office,” as of Sept. 12.
Arestovych was hired on Dec. 1, 2020, with a press release on the president’s website stating that Yermak has appointed Arestovych to serve “as his advisor.” It would seem that the document – available on the president’s website – has been recently edited, and now states that Arestovychwas hired as “an advisor to the President’s Office.”
The amendment has come after NV asked another presidential advisor – Mykhailo Podolyak – to clarify Arestovych’s exact job title.
“(His) job title never changed; he was an advisor to the (President’s) Office since the very beginning,” said Podolyak.
NV pointed out that every official source repeatedly refers to Arestovych as Yermak’s advisor. According to Podolyak, it’s a mere “technical error.”
Ukrainian news outlet Ukrainskyi Tyzhden published a complete list of all Yermak’s advisors, from which Arestovych was conspicuously absent.
Arestovych has grown to be an influential public figure, engaged in a constant and elaborate effort to communicate Ukraine’s prosecution of the war to wide audiences – both foreign and domestic.
He has also come under criticism from Ukrainian public figures for a var-ety of reasons — such as his alleged penchant for self-promotion, spread-ing inaccurate information, and views on LGBT+ minorities.
