Tuareg rebels raise Ukrainian flag after crushing Wagner mercenaries in Mali – photos
Tuareg rebels raised the flag of Ukraine following their
defeat of Wagner mercenaries, according to a photo obtained by the Kyiv Post on July 29 from
sources in Ukraine’s defense and security sector.
The photo shows the insurgents holding their own flag and
the flag of Ukraine.
The journalists suggest that the photo shows Tuareg’s
support for Ukraine, which has been hunting Wagner mercenaries across the
African continent.
A representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate,
Andriy Yusov, said earlier that “the rebels received the necessary information,
which allowed them to conduct a successful military operation against Russian
war criminals.”
The defeat of Wagner mercenaries in Mali
According to BBC sources, between 20 and 50 Russian soldiers
could have been killed in a clash near the town of Tin Zaouatine on the
Malian-Algerian border. One of the former Wagner PMC soldiers said that at
least 82 mercenaries were killed.
Tuareg inflicted serious losses on soldiers of the Russian
African Corps, consisting mostly of Wagner PMC mercenaries, near the village of
Tin Zaouatine, Reuters reported on July 27, citing Malian rebels.
The Wagner PMC justified their defeat by a sandstorm that
caught the Russians after the cleansing operation near Tin Zaouatine. The
rebels ambushed the Russians there and launched a counterattack, taking
advantage of the weather conditions. Numerous videos of Wagner’s troops
captured and killed in the desert were posted online.
