Turkey rules out transferring S-400 anti-aircraft systems to Ukraine

Turkey will not provide Ukraine with S-400 air defense systems purchased from Russia in 2017, Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler said on May 3.
According to CNN Turk, Guler clarified that Turkey is not considering transferring S-400s to any other country at all.
“It's out of the question to transfer our S-400 system to any other country," said Guler.
In May 2023, the United States suggested that Turkey send its Russian-made S-400 air defense systems to Ukraine
Turkish officials stated at the time that Ankara bought the S-400s from Russia for national security purposes and that "no other country has the right to interfere with this decision."
When Turkey signed the contract with Russia for S-400s in 2017, U.S. officials objected to their deployment, arguing that it would not be compatible with NATO systems. Ankara dismissed these concerns, stating that "the S-400s will not be integrated into NATO systems and will not pose a threat to the Alliance or its armaments."
The decision led to Washington refusing to sell F-35 jets to Turkey, while many other NATO countries applied to purchase the U.S.-made aircraft to upgrade their national air forces.
