U.S. imposes sanctions on Iran over drone transfers to Russia
The United States has imposed sanctions on four Iranian entities and one individual, State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller reported.
These entities and the individual are involved in the development, production, and distribution of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that the Iranian regime supplies to Russia, as well as to proxy groups and militant partners to fuel conflicts and destabilize the region.
These actions coincide with the European Union's sanctions against individuals and entities linked to Iran's UAV industry.
"We welcome the EU's first application of new sanctioning authorities targeting Iran's destabilizing activities and support for terrorism in the Middle East," Miller said.
The sanctions target four organizations associated with the Rayan Roshd Afzar Company. They also apply to the Iran Aviation Industries Organization, a subsidiary of Iran's Defense Ministry and Armed Forces Logistics.
