Ukraine’s Air Force shows off anti-radar missiles in use for the first time
Ukraine’s Air Force Command has demonstrated the use of U.S.-made AGM-88 HARM anti-radar missile by a UAF MiG-29 fighter jet for the first time, in a video posted to their Facebook page on Aug. 30.
According to Air Force Command, the video was filmed and edited by a Ukrainian pilot who dedicated it to his colleague Yevgeny Lysenko, who was killed in an air battle with the Russian invaders on March 9.
Thanks to these missiles, the Ukrainian fighter pilots can successfully deal with Russian air defense systems. Even though HARM missiles are not de-signed to be equipped on the Soviet-made MiG-29 fighters, Ukrainian specialists have modified them to fit.
The AGM-88 HARM missiles were sent to Ukraine as part of a $775 million military aid package announced by the U.S. on Aug. 19.
