Resolution on MP Bezuhla's removal from defense committee post not submitted to Ukrainian parliament
The Ukrainian legislature has failed to put a resolution to dismiss MP Mariana Bezuhla from the post of Deputy Chair of the Committee on National Security on the agenda, MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported on Telegram on Jan. 10.
After a series of social media posts criticizing the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, several MPs demanded Bezuhla's dismissal, including Ihor Kryvosheiev from Servant of the People, Iryna Herashchenko and Artur Herasymov from European Solidarity, Volodymyr Kabachenko of Batkivshchyna, Oleksandra Ustinova of Holos, and independent MP Dmytro Razumkov.
However, according to Zheleznyak, the resolution calling for her dismissal was blocked by the head of the ruling Servant of the People party, David Arakhamia.
“They never put it on the agenda,” he said.
“They fear that there are enough votes.”
Furthermore, according to a TikTok broadcast by European Solidarity MP Oleksiy Honcharenko, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, ended the parliamentary session early as a result of the rostrum being obstructed.
"It looks like there will be no constructive work," the speaker said.
“Therefore, I propose to end the session for today. The time of its continuation will be announced later.”
The resolution on Bezuhla will now be considered at the next meeting.
Although the press service of the Servant of the People party has said that Bezuhla alone was responsible for her statements, it was nevertheless recommended on Jan. 5 that she be removed from her position.
The Ukrainian legislature subsequently registered the resolution to recall Bezuhla on Jan. 6. Two days later, the relevant committee unanimously supported her dismissal.
