Ten countries sign Drone Deal agreements with Ukraine as defense ties deepen

Norway, where Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is
visiting today, became the 10th country in late August to sign a Drone Deal
agreement with Ukraine. NV explains in its infographic how the cooperation
format Kyiv is offering Western partners works.
Drone Deal is a program of long-term cooperation between
Ukraine and other countries on defense technology. It is a new key format for
working with partners that provides Ukraine with long-term annual funding for
its defense industry.
In return, partner countries gain access to modern Ukrainian
defense technologies and developments, Zelenskyy explained in August.
“When we talk about Drone Deals, we do not mean just
exporting certain drones, or not only that. It is a format that combines
Ukraine’s wartime defense experience with the defense capabilities of our
partners. Ukrainian expert teams assess the level of protection our partners
need, their air defense and other defense systems, and propose ways to
strengthen them through long-term cooperation with Ukraine lasting at least 10
years,” Zelenskyy stressed.
The Drone Deal format provides for both the rapid export of
Ukraine’s best combat-tested weapons and cooperation between Ukrainian defense
technology, or MilTech, companies and their counterparts in partner countries.

Drone Deal provides for four areas of cooperation between countries:
- advisory support for partner countries from Ukrainian military
personnel with combat experience;
- exports of combat-tested weapons and technology;
- localization of production in partner countries;
- cyber defense and intelligence sharing.
Under the agreements, partner countries can receive or exchange Ukrainian:
- drones for intercepting aerial targets;
- ground robotic systems;
- electronic warfare systems;
- reconnaissance and surveillance systems;
- strike systems;
- battlefield situational awareness software.
