Ukraine would make NATO stronger – Zelenskyy in Vilnius
Having arrived in Vilnius to participate in
the NATO summit on July 11, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed Lithuanians
at a concert in the city, highlighting the mutual benefits of Ukraine joining
the Alliance.
Zelenskyy highlighted his confidence in the Alliance's potential decision, which recognizes Ukraine's rightful place in NATO and is not intimidated by any potential aggressors.
He emphasized that Ukraine has earned its place in NATO and that every Ukrainian citizen hopes for this decision from the Alliance.
“I hope this faith turns into certainty — certainty in the decisions we deserve, decisions that every soldier, every citizen, every mother, and every child of our nation anticipates,” the president said.
“And isn't this a noble aspiration? NATO will secure Ukraine. Ukraine will make NATO stronger.”
Zelenskyy brought with a Ukrainian battle flag from Bakhmut to Vilnius, symbolizing, in his words, that "Lithuanians will never have to fight Russian soldiers again, neither under the Vilnius TV tower (like they did during the country’s fight for independence) nor anywhere else in your capital, your country."
Earlier on July 11, NATO members agreed on a joint communique concerning Ukraine at the Vilnius summit. NATO announced that Ukraine would be invited to join the Alliance once all member countries agree and all conditions are met by Kyiv – without clearly specifying what those conditions are.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
