Ukraine repels Russian overnight missile and drone attack
Ukrainian air defense took down 15 Russian Shahed kamikaze drones and four missiles overnight in Kyiv, Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Khmelnytskyi oblasts, Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk reported on Telegram on Aug 6.
A total of four Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles and two Kh-59 guided missiles were launched from Russia’s Voronezh Oblast and the Azov Sea area, along with 16 drones from Cape Chauda in the temporarily occupied Crimea and Russia’s Kursk Oblast.
Ukrainian Defense Forces' mobile fire groups, anti-aircraft missile troops, and electronic warfare (EW) units repelled the attack.
Kyiv Governor Ruslan Kravchenko earlier reported the Russian combined attack on Kyiv Oblast.
Air Defense managed to shoot down all enemy targets. No residential and critical infrastructure objects were struck directly, as well as no casualties were reported.
An air alert was issued in some Ukraine's oblasts on the night of Aug. 6. Explosions rang out in Kyiv swiftly after.
