Ukrainian Armed Forces repel Russian attack in Kharkiv Oblast
The Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully stopped a Russian advance in northern Kharkiv Oblast, destroying three units of enemy equipment and repelling all attacks on Ukrainian positions, DeepState reported on X on May 10.
"Consequences of Russian offensive on northern borders of Kharkiv Oblast,” post reads.
According to the report, Ukrainian soldiers destroyed Russian equipment north of Morokhovets and Oliynykove, where the Russians were advancing from Pylyne.
Russian assault in Kharkiv Obalst
On March 26, the Russian news agency Meduza released a story alleging dictator Vladimir Putin's plans to seize Kharkiv.
The country's leadership intends to capture Kharkiv and subsequently terminate the so-called "special military operation", according to a source with ties to the presidential administration.
The U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) later noted the absence of apparent preparations for such an operation, which would present significant challenges for Russian forces already engaged in active combat elsewhere in Ukraine.
Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavliuk, Commander of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, stated on May 3, citing intelligence, that the Kremlin has a plan to capture either Kharkiv or Sumy.
Deputy commander of Third Assault Brigade, Maksim Zhorin, said that Russian army was preparing for a new stage of offensive and advancement of its troops on May 4. He than said that it is likely that Kharkiv direction will not be a priority for them.
The Institute for the Study of War on May 6 reported that Russia redeployed some troops to Kursk Oblast and was forming a new grouping, presumably in preparation for a large-scale offensive on Kharkiv.
Local governor, Oleh Syniehubov, expressed confidence that Russians would not have enough forces to capture Kharkiv.
On May 10, the Ministry of Defense reported that Russian troops attempted to break through Ukrainian defense line in Vovchansk sector of Kharkiv Oblast at about 5 a.m. EET. Armed Forces repelled invaders' attacks.
The head of the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCI), Andriy Kovalenko, said that despite escalation at the front, Russia does not have resources to reach Kharkiv.
Syniehubov said that Ukrainian Armed Forces are confidently holding their positions and have not lost a single meter of territory in Kharkiv Oblast.
