Ukrainian forces thwart Russian capture of Borova in Kharkiv Oblast – Military intel
The Ukrainian Armed Forces foiled the plans of the Russian invasion forces to capture Borova in Kharkiv Oblast, a representative of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR) Andriy Yusov said on national television on June 21.
“Speaking about Borova and this sector, Ukrainian defenders
broke the enemy’s intentions there, losses in manpower and equipment are
significant,” the HUR representative said.
“Indeed, they are trying to pull up reserves, and the
potential threat remains, but at the moment we are not talking about the
formation of new powerful groupings to repeat the situation.”
The Russians are forced to transfer reserves to Borova from
other areas that are sensitive to them.
“However, the situation on the northern border remains tense
and dangerous, the enemy will continue to try to stretch Ukrainian reserves and
distract them, including from the situation in the east,” Yusov added.
Situation near Borova village in Kharkiv Oblast
The Russians had amassed up to 10,000 troops and 450 pieces
of military equipment between Rayhorodka and Novovodyane to repeat their attack
on Borova, the DeepState monitoring group claimed on June 18.
The Third Assault Brigade confirmed intensified Russian
attacks in Kharkiv Oblast. They noted that the Russian troops are advancing
with tank regiments, a large number of artillery, and additional units of
Wagner and special forces.
The Third Brigade reported on June 19, that the Russians
were making small tactical gains in the direction of Borova. The village is a
favorable position due to its terrain and logistical connection.
On the same day, it was reported that Kharkiv Oblast
authorities were preparing to introduce a forced evacuation from five
settlements of the Borova municipality due to the intensification of shelling
and the possibility of a Russian offensive.
