Russian S-400 Triumf in Crimea destroyed by Ukrainian missile — Danilov
A newly-developed Ukrainian missile successfully destroyed the Russian S-400 Triumf system in Russian-occupied Crimea, Oleksiy Danilov, the Secretary of the Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, said during an interview with Ukrainian Radio on Aug. 26.
He described the operation as “absolutely flawless.”
Danilov emphasized the cutting-edge nature of the missile used, without divulging specific details.
“The missile was new, absolutely modern, and state-of-the-art,” he stated.
“Yes, this is our latest product, which performed impeccably.”
On Aug. 23, the Ukrainian military’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) confirmed the destruction of the Russian Triumf S-400 anti-aircraft missile system at Cape Tarkhankut in occupied Crimea.
Early that same morning, reports of a significant explosion in Crimea surfaced on Telegram channels. An NV source from the intelligence claimed that Ukrainian forces had targeted the air defense system near the village of Olenivka on the Tarkhankut Peninsula.
Petro Andriushchenko, an advisor to the mayor of Mariupol, also reported damage to the Russian Bastion coastal missile complex. Additionally, there were reports of damaged radar stations at Cape Tarkhankut.
The S-400 Triumf, previously known as the S-300 PMU-3, is a mobile, surface-to-air missile system developed in the 1990s by Russia as an upgrade to the S-300 family. The S-400 went into service on 28 April 2007.
