Russia has yet to provide safety guarantees for evacuation mission — UN

A UN mission tasked
with evacuating civilians from the Russian occupied left bank of Kherson Oblast
has yet to receive security guarantees from the Russian government, amid
ongoing flooding caused by the Russian destruction of the Kakhovka Dam, UN in Ukraine head Denise Brown said on June 13.
The UN continues to coordinate its actions with Ukraine and Russia in order to get access to all civilians in the affected area, she emphasized.
"Operationally, we have boats, personnel and supplies ready to go," she said.
"However, the Russian Federation is yet to provide the safety guarantees we need to cross the front line to the left bank of the Dnipro River, including to Oleshky. These guarantees are necessary for the safety of our team and not to create additional risks for the people we intend to serve.”
Ukraine has ensured the safety of the UN evacuating mission, Minister of the Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba said on June 12.
The Red Cross is also present at the right (western) bank of the Dnipro River, but it hasn't applied for access to the left (eastern bank) from Russia, he added.
