Von der Leyen, European leaders arrive in Kyiv for Ukrainian Statehood Day

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Moldovan President Maia Sandu, Romanian President Nicusor Dan and other European leaders arrived in Kyiv on July 15, Ukrainian Statehood Day, according to Novyny.Live.
Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša, Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović, and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić also traveled to the Ukrainian capital for the visit.
Details about the purpose of the visit were not disclosed in advance for security reasons.
"Just arrived in Kyiv for my 11th visit to Ukraine in wartime," von der Leyen wrote. “It’s a special moment. Ukraine has built a strong military momentum. The tide is turning. I will announce new initiatives to integrate our defence industries. So we can produce more, and faster. We will also discuss accession and preparations for this winter.”
Von der Leyen last visited Kyiv on the anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion. That visit brought a number of senior foreign guests to the capital, including European Council President António Costa and 11 other foreign leaders, among them the heads of government of Croatia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Iceland, Finland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway, along with lower-level representatives from other countries and organizations.
On July 15, Ukrainians mark three commemorative dates at once: Ukrainian Statehood Day, the anniversary of the baptism of Kyivan Rus'-Ukraine, and the feast day of Saint Volodymyr the Great, Equal to the Apostles.
